The Lead: Roanoke scored eight runs with two outs in the first inning and never looked back en route to an 11-3 win over Monmouth.

How it Happened:

  • After the first two batters were retired to start the first inning, Katie Smith singled, stole second and scored on a Ruthie Williams single to make it 1-0.
  • The Maroons loaded the bases then back-to-back RBI singles by Mattie Morris and Marleigh Hall made it a 3-0 game.
  • Rachel Guilliams drew a bases loaded walk to make it 4-0 before Taylor Carter delivered a grand slam to put RC up 8-0.
  • With the score 10-3 in the fifth inning, RC loaded the bases with no outs and scored the game ending run on an error.
  • Williams and Hall each had two hits for RC. Courtney Oliver went all five innings in the circle, allowing three runs on five hits to even her record at 1-1 on the season.

The Lead: Roanoke ran its win streak to five with an 8-0 victory over Misericordia to close out the day in Clermont, Fla.  

How it Happened:

  • Roanoke jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when it loaded the bases with one out and Becca Wenger singled to plate Erin Forbes and Smith.
  • In the RC fourth inning, Guilliams singled with one out then scored when Taylor Slate bunted for a single. The ball was thrown away during the play allowing Guilliams to score and make it a 3-0 game.
  • Carter followed with a single to score Slate and made it 4-0.
  • With the score 6-0 in bottom of the sixth inning, the Maroons loaded the bases with one out and ended the game on a pinch hit single by Taylor Asimakopoulos that scored a pair of runs.
  • Teresa Wagner allowed just two hits over six innings of work, while striking out five in improving her record to 3-0 on the season.
