How it Happened

  • Brandywine got all the runs it would need when it scored a pair of unearned runs to go up 2-0.
  • Grace DeRosa went the distance for Brandywine, scattering six hits and striking out two and not walking anyone.
  • Ruthie Williams tossed four innings, allowing two runs and struck out three. The loss drops her record to 2-1 on the season.
  • Roanoke put a runner in scoring position in each of the first three innings and four of the first five frames but could not score.

The Lead: Roanoke recorded 18 hits and Paige Bleyer and Taylor Asimakopoulos combined for a perfect game as the Maroons topped North Central 18-0.

How it Happened

  • Roanoke scored three runs in the first inning after Taylor Carter and Katie Smith both scored on wild pitches. Later in the inning Brooke Mason singled home Becca Wenger to make it 3-0.
  • In the RC second inning, Taylor Slate opened with single and scored on an Elizabeth Rathbone triple. A Kinsey Overfelt single plated Rathbone to make it a 5-0 game.
  • Roanoke scored five times in the third inning to make it 10-0. A two RBI triple off the bat of Scarlett Sisson and RBI doubles from Jenna Gordon and Rathbone highlighted the inning.
  • The Maroons scored eight times in the fourth inning as RC used nine hits and took advantage of a North Central error to go up 18-0. Mason had three RBI in the inning with a double and a single.
  • Bleyer (1-0) struck out five, while Asimakopoulos fanned three. The duo did not allow a hit or base runner.
  • Eight different Maroons had hits, led by Mason who was 4-for-4 with four RBI. Rathbone knocked in four runs had three hits.
