The Lead: Roanoke shutout Ferrum in game one of Tuesday's doubleheader.

How it Happened:

  • Ruthie Williams (6-1) and Teresa Wagner combined for the shutout allowing only seven hits to the Panthers. Williams picked up the win going 6.0 innings and allowing six hits while Wagner earned the save in 1.0 innings.
  • Rachel Guilliams went 2-for-3 with one RBI, Katie Smith and Mattie Morris each drove in a run for RC.
  • In the bottom of the second, Taylor Carter led off with a single to left field, stole second on the next pitch and moved to third on a fly out from Evie Raley. Smith drove Carter in and Morris used to single to left to plate Smith and give Roanoke a 2-0 lead.
  • RC tacked on another run in the fourth as a Brooke Mason hit a lead off double and Guilliams drove her in with a single up the middle. 
  • Claire Harris (0-2) was tabbed with the loss allowing eight hits and three runs in six innings. Amber Coffin went 2-for-3 with a walk for the Panthers.

The Lead: Ferrum pushed across a run off a sac fly in the bottom of the ninth to take game two 3-2.

How it Happened:

  • The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the fourth as Bailey Oakes drove in Jordan Hamlett and then Oakes moved to second on a Roanoke error. Claire Harris brought in Oakes with a double to give FC the final run of the inning.
  • Roanoke recorded three consectutive hits to lead off the fifth inning but were unable to push a run across leaving the score 2-0 Ferrum.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Williams singled up the middle and Guilliams drew a walk before Morris moved the duo to second and third with a bunt. Pinch hitter Kate Priester drove both runners in with single to tie the game and force extra innings.
  • After a scoreless eighth inning, Hamlett was placed on second and was moved to third off a Coffin bunt. Oakes brought in the what proved to be the winning run with a sac fly to right field.

Up Next: Roanoke hits the road on Wednesday for a doubleheader at Emory & Henry beginning at 3 p.m.
