The Lead: Roanoke shutout Gettysburg in a 5-0 win in game one Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:

  • Becca Wenger broke open the scoring with a two-run homer in the top of the second to give Roanoke an early 2-0 edge.
  • In the top of the fourth, Ruthie Williams hit a leadoff single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Kendall Penn reached on a Gettysburg error and Wenger walked to load the bases. Kate Priester lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to score pinch runner Scarlett Sisson and make it 3-0.
  • Roanoke tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth off a two-RBI single from Priester to score Mattie Morris and Penn.
  • Emily Salsberry (3-2) earned the win allowing only five hits in the shutout performance while striking out three.
  • For Gettysburg, Aileen Reilly got the loss after giving up five runs off four hits in six innings of work

Score: Frostburg State 2 | Roanoke 0
Records: Roanoke 7-7 | Frostburg State 6-4
Location: Virginia Beach, Va.

The Lead: Frostburg State held the Maroons to one hit as RC dropped a 2-0 decision in game two.

How it Happened:

  • Frostburg State used a solo home run from Katelyn Mehrling in the top of the second to take an early 1-0 lead.
  • In the top of the fourth, FSU strung together another run with a lead off walk and a pair of singles to extend the gap to 2-0.
  • Allison Short tossed the shutout allowing only one hit in seven innings.
  • Teresa Wagner was tabbed with the loss for Roanoke giving up two runs off nine hits in the complete game performance.
