The Lead: Roanoke returned home for a double header with Lynchburg on Monday night. Game one would feature a pitchers duel that would stay scoreless until a top of the fifth single would give the Hornets the lead. Roanoke would manage just one hit as Lynchburg took the opener, 1-0. Game two would see the Maroons race out to a 6-2 advantage. After the visitors tied the game in the fourth, Roanoke would take a one-run lead into the seventh. However, Lynchburg scored a pair to complete the comeback and take both ends of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) twin bill, 8-7.

How it Happened:

  • Jada Karnes and Emily Charlton were locked in a pitcher's duel throughout game one.
  • In the top of the fifth, Lynchburg would get back-to-back base hits and then a Roanoke error to load the bases. A single to left would provide all the offense that either team would produce.
  • Karnes suffered he first loss of the season despite a seven inning, six hit, eight strikeout performance. Jordyn DiFava would break up the Lynchburg no-hitter with a base hit in the bottom of the fifth.
