The Lead: Roanoke looked to keep their current two game win streak alive when they hosted Randolph College for a double header on Thursday night. After falling behind 1-0, the Maroons scored nine unanswered runs to take the opener in six innings, 9-1. In the nightcap, Roanoke found themselves down 6-1 before a comeback would see Roanoke earn a 9-8 win, running their current streak to four straight wins.

How it Happened:

  • Randolph got one run in the top of the second aided by two Roanoke miscues.
  • The Wildcats would hold the lead until a six-run outburst in the bottom of the fourth would give Roanoke the lead for good.
  • After an out, Makayla Austin reached on an error and advanced on a Jordyn DiFava single. Austin scored on a ground out and a pinch hit single by Serenity Bishop put Roanoke in front. Rebecca Hensley singled and Brooke Trapuzzano walked to load the bases. Shanan Hester hit a 3-RBI double and then scored on a Randolph error to put the Maroons in firm control.
  • Jada Karnes earned her 11th win of the season with a six inning, four hit, seven strikeout performance.
  • DiFava was 2-3 with a run scored with Hester scoring one run and driving in three.

How it Happened:

  • Randolph jumped on the Maroons, scoring six runs in the first two innings.
  • In the bottom of the second, Roanoke would begin their rally. Trapuzzano tripled to bring home Hensley and Sammie Murphy.
  • One inning later, Rachel Sirbaugh scored on a ground out. Morgan Clark crossed home plate when Meri Bostic reached base on an error. Hensley drove home DiFava and Trapuzzano added to her RBI count when she plated two with a single.
  • After a Randolph home run, Bostic singled to score Kate Houle for a 9-7 advantage.
  • Despite giving up a run in the top of the sixth, Roanoke held on for the sweep.
  • Meagen Evans picked up her second win of the season while Karnes pitched a perfect, three strikeout, seventh for her first save of the season.
  • Trapuzzano finished 3-4 with a run scored and four RBI. Hester and Austin were each 2-4 and Murphy scored a pair of runs.

Up Next: Roanoke is scheduled to host Bridgewater on Saturday in a double header at the James I Moyer Complex in Salem.
