The Lead: Roanoke splits with No. 6 Christopher Newport in their doubleheader. The Maroons were able to plate two runs in game one to take the win. It was a pitcher's duel in game two but the Captains were able to bring in one run to win the game.  

Highlights:

• In the top of the third the Captains had the opportunity to score with runners on second and third but unfortunately were unable to bring them in.
• With runners on second and third in the bottom of the third Morgan Clark two run double into left field.
• The Captains continued to battle but the Maroons' stellar defense shut them down.

Highlights:

• Game two was a battle for both Christopher Newport and Roanoke. In the top of the third the captains had runners on first and third and attempted to steal second and drew the throw which allowed a run to score.
• In game one Jada Karnes threw 8 strikeouts in her sixth shutout of the year.
• Lauren Hoffman went 2 for 3 in game two.
• Makayla Austin went 3 for 4 between both games.

Up next: Roanoke remains home for an ODAC matchup against Bridgewater on Wednesday April, 26^th. First pitch is scheduled to start at 3:00pm.
