Roanoke falls to Bridgewater, 5-2 in ODAC Women's Tennis Action
ROANOKE, Va. --- Roanoke women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Bridgewater in ODAC action held at Hollins University Wednesday evening. The loss drops the Maroons to 7-5 overall, 2-5 in the ODAC while the Eagles improve to 10-5, 6-2 in the ODAC.
Julia Hausmann and Lucy Webb won the only two matches for the Maroons in #5 and #6 singles, respectively. Hausmann def. Ally McConaughy, 8-3 while Webb def. Emily Schwitzer, 8-5. Webb is now 3-0 in the #6 slot this season and has won her fifth-straight outings. Hausmann is now 4-1 in #5 singles this season and is 7-3 overall this spring.
Kelsey White and Kelsey Burke fell in #1 singles to Bridgewater, 9-7, as both partnered up for the first time this year. White could not continue due to injury and withdrew from her #1 singles match. The same happened in #2 singles as Kristin Nagy and Caroline Hunter fell 9-7. Hausmann and Webb fell in #3 doubles, 8-3 for the first time this season. Hausmann is 3-1 in doubles competition
The women will host the final three matches of the season, starting with Randolph on Monday, April 13 at 3:00 p.m. They will turn around on Wednesday, April 15 to take on Guilford at 3 p.m. in two big ODAC contests for the Maroons.
