Roanoke defeats Sweet Briar, 5-4 in Women's Tennis
SALEM, Va. --- The Roanoke College women's tennis team defeated Sweet Briar, 5-4 Tuesday afternoon and fell to Virginia Wesleyan, 6-1 on Sunday afternoon on the campus courts. The Maroons are now 6-3, 1-3 in the ODAC.
Kristin Nagy (#2, 6-4, 6-4), Caroline Hunter (#4, 7-5, 6-2), Julia Hausmann (#5, 6-0, 6-2) and Lucy Webb (#6, 6-3, 6-2) all won their respective singles matches while the duo of Nagy and Hunter won, 8-6 in #1 doubles. It was the first time the two have played together all season.
The #3 doubles duo of Erin Burnop and Lucy Webb fell, 9-8 in their first match together while Kelsey Burke and Ruth Condro fell 8-4 in #2 doubles. Burke and Haley Parker fell in #1 and #3 singles matches, respectively.
The Maroons fell, 6-1 to Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon. The Maroons won by default in #6 singles and #3 doubles matches. Lucy Webb won the #5 singles, 6-2, 6-1 to claim the only earned victory of the day.
The women will travel to Randolph-Macon this Saturday, April 4 in an ODAC match which will take place in Ashland, Va. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
