Women's Tennis Gets Win over North Carolina Wesleyan, 8-1

SALEM, Va. --- The Roanoke College women's tennis team defeated North Carolina Wesleyan on Sunday, 8-1. The Maroons improved their record to 5-2 while the Battling Bishops fell to 1-6.

The women swept their doubles matches for the fifth time this season in addition to winning five of six singles matches for a total of eight points.

Kelsey White and Kristin Nagy defeated Jamie Galasso and Leila Heinonen in the number one doubles seed 8-6. In the number two spot, Kelsey Burke and Erin Burnop had a solid 8-0 victory. Christa Aiken and Ruth Condro teamed up in the number three seed for a five point victory, 8-3.
In singles competition, Nagy went three sets (6-2, 4-6, 12-10) with Galasso to earn her fourth victory of the season in the number one spot. Haley Parker (#3) and Caroline Hunter (#6) both defeated their opponents 6-1, 6-0.
In the four and five seed, Julia Hausman (6-2, 6-0) and Webb (6-2, 6-2) won their matches to earn two points for the Maroons.
The women will host Randolph on Wednesday, Mar. 25. for more ODAC action. Match time is set for 4:00 p.m.
