Maroons Squash Hornets in Women's Tennis Action
Salem, Va. --- Roanoke Women's tennis cruised to a 9-0 victory on Monday afternoon against ODAC foe Lynchburg. Every player won in decisive fashion as no Roanoke player lost more than two sets in a game all afternoon. With the victory the women improved to 6-4, 3-2 in conference play.
Roanoke's #2 singles player, Corbin Leitch (Richmond, VA, Steward School), defeated Jessie Moore in the closest singles match of the event 6-2, 6-2. Leitch is 8-2 in her last 10 matches and is currently riding a four game winning streak. The Maroons #3 singles player, Caroline Hunter (Salem, VA, Salem), stayed hot as she improved her win streak to five straight beating Lynchburg's Sascha Barrow 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play the Maroons started right where they left off as the Maroons #1 pairing consisting of Laura Dodson (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) and Leitch swept Krysten Bishop and Jessie Moore 8-0, improving their doubles record to 7-2 on the season. In other doubles action Kristin Nagy (Torrance, CA, Torrance High School) and Caroline Hunter defeated Kathryn Fisher and Sascha Barrow 8-1 while Tessa Bramhall (Concord, MA) and Ruth Condro (Bel Air, MD, C. Milton Wright) finished up a great day for women's tennis by blanking Sarah Fleming and Jeannine Malay 8-0.
Next up for the women is a match at Bridgewater College. Match set for April 7th at 3pm.
