Women's Tennis Slips Past Virginia Wesleyan in 5-4 Win
SALEM, Va -- Women's Tennis edged past Virginia Wesleyan in a 5-4 win. The Marlins drop to 3-7 while the Maroons improve to 3-1.
In singles, Sophomore Laura Dodson (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) defeated Saide Bennou 4-6, 6-4, 6-0. In doubles her and partner Corbin Leitch (Richmond, VA, Steward School) beat Bennou and Meredith Willett 8-6. Also in singles, Caroline Hunter (Salem, VA, Salem) routed Stephanie Bittner 7-5, 2-6, 6-3. FreshmanLauren Marszal (Meriden, CT, Francis T. Maloney) triumphs over Gabbie Sacco 6-3, 6-7, 2-7, 6-0 in four sets.
In doubles, Casey Wojtera (Radford, VA, Radford) and Hunter cruised past Bittner and Sacco 8-2 to secure the third win of the season.
The women's next game is on March 21 as they travel to Emory & Henry. The match is scheduled for 4 P.M.
