The Maroons women's tennis season came to an end Sunday afternoon, after Sweet Briar swept Roanoke with a 6-0, upset. The Vixens (SBC) advance to the semifinals with 12-5 on the season, 6-4 in the conference ranking them 5th in the ODAC. Roanoke ended their season with a record of 9-5 overall, 7-3 in the ODAC. They are currently 4th in the ODAC standings.
In singles, Sweet Briar sniped all three matches, securing a 3-0 final. Laura Dodson (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) finalized her season at the #1 slot, with an outstanding 11-3 record, leading the Maroons in singles. Corbin Leitch (Richmond, VA, Steward School)also had a successful season collecting 10 wins, with only 3 losses overall. Seniors Kristin Nagy (Torrance, CA, Torrance High School) and Kelsey White (Providence, RI, Wheeler) locked in their final season, Nagy with a final record of 6-5 and White finishing at 5-3.
In doubles competition, the Vixens proved to be relentless as they downed Roanoke, 3-0. Maroon pair Dodson and Leitch also led the women in doubles, with a 9-5 record while consistently remaining at the No. 1 spot throughout the season.
