Roanoke defeated Mount Union in a tight contest, 5-4 on Monday. The Maroons #1 duo of Laura Dodson and Corbin Leitch won 8-5 while Jenny Antosyk and Lucy Webb won 8-4 in #2 doubles. Dodson had to claw her way to a victory in #1 singles (6-3, 7-5) followed by #2 and #3 singles victories by Leitch (6-1, 6-0) and Antosyk (6-2, 6-3), respectively to secure the victory.
The Maroons cruised past Alvernia, 9-0 on Tuesday. The #1 and #2 doubles duos won, 8-2 in their respective matches while Carroll/Haley Goodes won 8-0 to complete the doubles sweep. Goodes had the tightest match of the day in #4 singles as she escaped with a 7-5, 6-4 win. Antosyk (#3 singles) and Marszal (#6 singles) swept their matches, 6-0, 6-0.
In the final day of the trip, RC knocked off St. John Fisher, 7-2 to end the week on a three-match win streak. Dodson's match resulted in a 6-1, 6-1 decision in #1 singles to highlight the day.
The doubles duos swept once again to take control of the match early. Dodson and Leitch won, 8-3 while Webb and Antosyk took #2 doubles, 8-2. Goodes and Carroll defeated SJF, 8-4 in the #3 slot.
Leitch (6-3, 6-3) and Marszal (6-2, 6-3) won in #2 and #6 singles matches. Antosyk (8-2) won in #3 singles action as the Maroons ended what was a successful spring break trip.
The women will travel to Lexington on March 15 to take on #8 Washington and Lee in conference action. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
