In singles play, the number five contest was the most competitive. Lauren Marszal (Meriden, CT, Francis T. Maloney) defeated Hailey Bettencourt, 7-6, 6-7, 10-4, to win her third straight match. Jennifer Antoszyk (Charlotte, NC, University of Nebraska Independent Studies) and Corbin Leitch (Richmond, VA, Steward School) each earned their 10th singles win of the season by winning their matches in two sets.
Laura Dodson (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) and Leitch have combined to win their last six doubles matchups after their 8-0 win in the number one position on Thursday. Brianna Carroll (Niagara Falls, NY, Nardin Academy) and Marszal teamed up for the 8-0 win in number three doubles to improve to 3-0 as a pair.
The school record for wins in a season is 13, and Roanoke will make a push for the mark with four games remaining in the 2012 season. Roanoke takes on Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday at 3:00 PM at the Elizabeth Campus Courts. The Marlins are 3-8 this season, 2-2 in the ODAC.
