The Roanoke Maroons defeated the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets in Ashland, Virginia by a score of 9-0 in their first of two matches on Saturday. In the second game of the day, the Maroons failed to #13 Mary Washington in Fredericksburg 7-2. At the end of the day, the Maroons record sits at 12-4 and 7-2 in the ODAC. The 12 victories is the most since Roanoke posted 13 in 1995.

In singles play the Maroons swept the competition with Lucy Webb (Glastonbury, CT, Glastonbury) winning the closet contest of the match. The senior from Connecticut won, 7-6, 6-1 to improve her record to 8-5. Corbin Leitch (Richmond, VA, Steward School) won her team-high 12th match, 6-0, 6-0. Leitch and Laura Dodson (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) combined for their 13th victory in doubles play with an 8-2 victory over Caty-Betz Holcomb and Morgan Parks.

The second match of the day for Roanoke was at the 13th ranked Eagles of Mary Washington, where they fell, 7-2. The Maroons' two victories came from Webb and Jennifer Antoszyk (Charlotte, NC, University of Nebraska Independent Studies) who won their matches after their opponents retired.

With their 1-1 record on the day, Roanoke's record stands at 12-4 and have won three of their last four. The program's record for wins in a single season is 13, which the team posted in 1993 and 1995. They will have the chance to tie the record on Friday when they travel to take on Bridgewater. The Maroons are 6-4 on the road this season, while Bridgewater posts a 7-4 record.
