Roanoke Ends Regular Season With Loss to Bridgewater
The Roanoke Maroons fell to the Bridgewater Eagles in Bridgewater, VA on Friday afternoon, 8-1. Roanoke finishes their regular season with a 12-6 mark, and a 7-3 record in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. The Maroons' 2012 team ties the 1991 team for the second-highest win total, one behind the school record of 13. This season marks the seventh time Roanoke has reached seven conference wins, which is tied for second-most all-time.

The Maroons' only victory came at number one singles, where Laura Dodson (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) defeated Katie Gordon, 6-2, 6-4. Dodson finishes the 2012 regular season with a 12-5 record, tied for the team lead in wins with Corbin Leitch (Richmond, VA, Steward School), and has won four of her last five matches. Lauren Marszal had her five match winning streak snapped, as she fell to Olivia Stone, 6-1, 6-2, at number five singles. Bridgewater swept the doubles competition, with the closest contest coming in the number three pairing. Haley Goodes (Salem, VA, Glenvar ) and Brianna Carroll (Niagara Falls, NY, Nardin Academy) fell, 8-6, against Ally McConaughy and Emily Schweitzer.

Roanoke holds the fourth seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. They will host Guilford on Saturday in the ODAC Quarterfinals with the time to be announced. The Maroons defeated Guilford on March 17th, 6-3, in Greensboro, and have won three straight over the Quakers.
