Women's Tennis Falls to #27 Mary Washington
FREDRICKSBURG - The Roanoke College women's tennis team fell in non-conference action to Mary Washington 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Maroons now have a record of 1-1, while the Eagles, who are ranked 27th in the nation, open their season 1-0.

At #1 singles, it was a high profile match between Roanoke's Jennifer Antoszyk and Mary Washington's Lindsay Raulston. Antoszyk ranks 22nd in the Atlantic South region, while Raulston is the #19 ranked player in the nation. The pair battled in two sets, with Raulston eventually winning 6-4; 7-6 (5). The two also faced off in #1 doubles, where the team of Raulston and Shelby Harris won 8-1 over Antoszyk and Corbin Leitch.

At #2 singles, Leitch took on Cassie Bowman, and fell 6-2; 6-2. Briell Smith played Shelby Harris in the #3 spot, as Harris won 6-1; 6-0. Kristin McDowell (6-1; 6-0), Kaity Diskerud (6-0; 6-0) and Brianna Carroll (6-0; 6-1) also fell in their singles matches against the #27 Mary Washington Eagles.

The #2 Doubles (Diskerud/Smith) and #3 Doubles (McDowell/Carroll) teams also dropped their doubles matches by the score of 8-1.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, February 23rd as they take on Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. That contest is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
