#19 Ranked Maroons Defeat #20 Eagles on Tuesday
SALEM - The 19th ranked Roanoke College women's team defeated the #20 ranked Bridgewater College in long, hard fought battle. The Maroons clenched the #2 seed in the ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament with a record of 12-3; 9-1 ODAC, while the Eagles took the #3 seed with a record of 15-4; 8-2. This is the first time in the history of the women's tennis program that the Maroons have been able to clench the #2 seed.

The match between two of the top Old Dominion Athletic Conference teams lasted over four hours. The Maroons only won one doubles match in the contest, as Corbin Leitch and Kristen McDowell defeated Brittany Wilson and Olivia Stone, 8-4. After the doubles competition, the Maroons trailed Bridgewater 2-1.

After falling in the #1 singles position, the Maroons trailed 3-1. At the #2 position Laura Dodson defeated Marla O'Bryan 6-1; 6-4. Briell Smith was also victorious at the #3 singles position, picking up a win over Brittany Wilson, 6-1; 6-1. Kristen McDowell took down Jessie Mitchell in #4 singles, 6-1; 6-4. However the match came down to #5 singles, where Haley Goodes won the first set 6-3, then took the second set 7-5 to give Roanoke the 5-4 win over #20 Bridgewater.

The Maroons return to action on Sunday April 21st as they will host the first round of the ODAC Women's Tennis Championship against the #7 seed. For more information about the conference tournament, go to http://www.odaconline.com
