Women's Tennis Takes First Loss From Division I Opponent Radford on Monday
SALEM – The Roanoke College women's tennis team was handed its first loss on Monday after falling to Division I opponent Radford University, 7-0.  The Maroons continue the season with a record of 8-1, while the Highlanders are 5-8 for the year.

The #19 regionally ranked Roanoke Maroons started the season out 8-0, which is the best record to start a season in program history.  It was also the best start by any Roanoke Coach in their first year at the helm, a record posted by new coach Daniel Ragsdale.  The loss also put an end to the Maroons home winning streak, which spanned a length of 15 matches, going all the way back to the start of the 2012 season.

Roanoke's #1 doubles team of Jennifer Antoszyk and Briell Smith took Radford's Meg Napolitano and Grace Sarver, 8-6.  Emily Henderson and Reed Kegel also made a tough match out of Gisela Garcia and Sara Andrade at #2 doubles by the score of 8-5.  Emma Barker and Kristen McDowell fell to Taylor Newman and Taylor Fay at the #3 spot, 8-0.

In singles action, Newman topped Antoszyk, 6-2; 6-0.  Henderson played Sarver to a #3 singles loss by the score of 6-3; 6-0.  Kegel took a game in each set in her loss to Garcia at #4 singles, 6-1; 6-1.  Roanoke fell at #2, #5 and #6 singles by the scores of 6-0; 6-0.

The Maroons return to action on Thursday, March 27th as the Maroons host Lynchburg College in a make-up match from the previous week.  That contest is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start at the Elizabeth Campus Courts.
