Women's Tennis Closes Regular Season With 5-3 Win Over Bridgewater
BRIDGEWATER – The Roanoke College women's tennis team, who is regionally ranked #16 in the South Atlantic Region, defeated Bridgewater College 5-3 on Thursday evening.

The Maroons (14-2; 10-1 ODAC) have captured the #2 seed in the ODAC Tournament, and will host #7 seed Emory & Henry at the Elizabeth Campus Courts on Saturday, April 19th. The Maroons defeated the Wasps 6-3 in Emory on March 22nd.

With the win, Roanoke has tied the all-time single season wins record of 14 wins, originally set in 2013 with a record of 14-4. They also tie the most ODAC wins in a season, finishing 10-1 in the ODAC.

While Bridgewater took the #1 doubles match, the Maroons topped the Eagles in the #2 and #3 positions. Emily Henderson and Reed Kegel defeated Brittany Wilson and Jessie Mitchell, 8-3 at #2. Emma Barker and Kristen McDowell won at #3 doubles over Holly Knupp and Whitney Cash, 5-3.

Roanoke picked up three wins in singles to capture the game from Bridgewater. Jennifer Antoszyk defeated Katie Gordon 6-2; 6-4 at #1 singles. Emily Henderson was victorious at #3 singles over Wilson, 6-0; 7-5. Kegel rounded out the final win for the Maroons with a 6-2; 6-3 win over Jessie Mitchell.

The Maroons will return to action on Saturday, April 19th as they host Emory & Henry in the first round of the ODAC Tournament at the Elizabeth Campus Courts.
