Roanoke Blanks Randolph, 5-0 in Women's Tennis
LYNCHBURG - The Roanoke College women's tennis team defeated Randolph College 5-0 on Friday evening.  The Maroons now have a record of 11-5, 6-1 in the ODAC, while the WildCats are 5-3, 2-1 in the ODAC.
 
The Maroons are currently ranked #18 in the ITA Division III Atlantic South Region.  They have won five of their last six matches, defeating Misericordia, Shenandoah, Guilford, Virginia Wesleyan and now Randolph College.
 
Roanoke swept the doubles competition to get out to a 3-0 advantage.  The #1 doubles team of Emily Henderson and Reed won 8-4 over Dina Velazco  and Jenna Sweet.  Emma Barker and Kristen McDowell won in #2 doubles over Heather Parra and Sarah Parker in a tight 9-7 victory.  Lydia Dey and Tracy Kile also won at #3 doubles 8-2 over Tiandre Ford and Anna McKenzie.
 
It took just two singles matches for the Maroons to ward off the WildCats.  Emily Henderson battled to a three set victory over Velazco.  Henderson won #1 singles 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.  Catherine Lee pulled off the final victory with a 6-1, 6-0 over Tiandre Ford
 
Roanoke returns to action on Monday, April 6th as they play host to Hollins University.  That contest is scheduled for a 3:30 PM start at the Elizabeth Campus Courts.
