The Lead: The Roanoke College Cross Country teams each competed in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday with the women placing seventh and the men 13th.

How it Happened

  • Kerri Dalton placed sixth individually with a time of 22:41, unofficially qualifying her for the 2016 NCAA National Championship Meet in Louisville, Ky., next Saturday. The reigning ODAC Champion, Dalton was the top women finisher in the league on Saturday.
  • Claire Brooks joined Dalton on the all-region team by placing 18th overall with a time of 23:17 in the 6k race.
  • Caity Ashley (24:30) and Ellen Bauer (24:31) finished 55th and 56th, respectively in the 213 runner field.
  • The women's team placed seventh among the 27 teams. Emory had five runners in the top-19 to take the team title.
  • Howard Daniels was the top men's finisher, placing 47th with a time of 27:15. Kevin Waterman was 59th among the 208 runners with a time of 27:27. John Wiggins placed 67th for the Maroons.
  • RC finished 13th as a team, with Christopher Newport winning the team title by placing four runners in the top-13 spots.
