RC men & Women finish 3rd

The Basics
Event: Roanoke XC Invitational (Green Hill Park)
Location: Salem, Va.
The Lead: Roanoke College hosted the Roanoke XC Invitational at Green Hill Park in Salem on Friday evening. The Maroon women placed 3rd in a field of 10 competing over the 6K course. The men would run an 8K race with Roanoke finishing 3rd in the field of 12.
Women's Highlights:
- Southern Virginia finished atop the standings with 17 points with Fayetteville St. (79) runner-up and the Maroons (90) third.
- Lauren Brown would finish 6th of the 88 runners that took the starting line in a time of 23:47.7.
- Right behind Brown would come Hannah Koepfinger (23:49.0) making it a pair of Roanoke runners in the top 10.
- Ashley Brown made it a trio in the top 20 when she crossed the line in 25:09.0.
Men's Highlights:
- The men's 8K was also won by Southern Virginia with 68 points just ahead of Randolph College with 70 and the Maroon's 74 points.
- Chamberlain Zulauf earned a top three finish with a time of 27:22.7.
- At 27:31.5, Peter Smith came home 4th right behind his teammate.
- Andrew Deel just missed a top 20 finish, crossing the line 21st in the 100-runner field in a final time of 29:09.7.
Up Next: Roanoke will look to take the momentum for a solid regular season into the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship Meet on Saturday, October 30th. The championships will be hosted by Bridgewater College.
