Roanoke Competes At NCAA South/Southeast Regional

The Lead: After both cross country teams finished in the top five at the ODAC Championships, the runners traveled to Memphis for the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Meet on Saturday. The men came home 19th of the 36 teams while the women finished their 6K course 18th of 33 competitors.

Men Highlights

  • Roanoke would post a final team time of 2:17:12, averaging 27:27 per runner.
  • Chamberlain Zulauf was the first Maroon to cross the finish line of the 8K race with a total time of 26:53.3.
  • Fellow sophomore Peter Smith earned points for RC in a time of 27:27.4
  • Rounding out the top three was freshman Ryan Hamacher in a final time of 27:32.4, just 2.5 seconds ahead of senior Nathaniel Willis.

Women's Highlights:

  • The Maroon women posted a final time of 2:04.41 (24:57 average).
  • Leading the way was Emma Maras. The freshman finished 59th with a time of 23:50.8.
  • Sophomore Hannah Koepfinger was the next RC runner to cross the line with a time of 24:19.3.
  • Rounding out the top three scorers was freshman Lauren Brown after finishing the 6K layout in a time of 24:34.4.
