A distinguished member of the Roanoke lacrosse team from 1973-77, Nevitt was the only player in the history of the South Atlantic Lacrosse League to be named an All-Star four straight years.

A second-team All-American for two years, Nevitt was the Roanoke College Athlete of the Year in 1976.  A co-captain of lacrosse team, he participated in the Annual Superstars lacrosse game in 1976.

Nevitt held three Roanoke College lacrosse records by the end of his career: most goals in a season, most goals in a career, and most points in a career.
