The Lead: William Peace knocked down 19 three-pointers en route to a 108-92 win over Roanoke on Saturday.
How it Happened:
- Caleb Jordan had 27 points to lead the Maroons while John Caldwell finished with a career-high 26 points in the loss. Mark Seaman finished with 11 points, while Eli Sumpter finished with 10. RC shot 49.3% for the game, making 33-of-67 shots from the field.
- William Peace made 19 three-pointers and shot 46.3% from the floor from the game. Chris Thomas had a game-high 28 points for WPU and Ryan Emfinger finished with 24 points of his own.
- With the score tied 11-11 early in the first-half, William Peace went on an 11-2 run, opening up a 19-10 lead on a three-pointer by Emfinger with 13 minutes to go in the half.
- Roanoke battled back and outscored WPU 17-7 over the next five minutes, taking a 27-26 lead on a Joey Miller layup with eight minutes to go in the half.
- William Peace then went on a 14-3 run to take a 10 point lead and would hold a 50-42 advantage at the intermission.
- WPU opened up a 10 point advantage when a Thomas bucket made the score 60-50 with 15:24 to go in the game. RC then scored seven of the next 10 points, pulling it within six on a Jordan basket that made the score 63-57 with 13 minutes to go.
- William Peace extended its lead back to double-digits with an 11-4 run capped by a Thomas three-pointer that made the score 74-61 with 10 minutes left on the clock.
