2016-2017:  As a Junior Sumpter played in all 26 games for the Maroons and averaged 5.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assist. He had a season high thirteen points against Anderson (12/31) while contributing three rebounds, six assist and one steal. He had a season high seven assist for the Maroons against Coast Guard (12/30). He contributed seven rebounds and seven points in the teams’ victory. He also dished out seven assist in a close game against a conference opponent Lynchburg (1/11). Sumpter scored nine points, grabbed four rebounds along with one steal in that game

2015-16: Started in 23 games out of 26 games he played in for the Maroons during his sophomore year… finished averaging 4.4 points per game, 1.3 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game, and collected 21 steals in total on the year… would put up a season high 13 points in a win over Virginia Wesleyan (1/9) while also collecting one block, one steal, two assists, and one rebound… dished out six assists in three separate games over the course of the season… in a 97-80 win over Hampden-Sydney (2/6) he would score 11 points, one steal, four assists, and three rebounds.

2014-15: Played in 11 games for the Maroons during his freshman campaign... averaged 0.9 points, 0.6 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 0.6 steals on the year... scored three points to go along with three assists vs. Guilford (2/11)... played 14 minutes, scored two points and collected two steals in first collegiate game vs. Marymount (11/15)... posted season-bests of 15 minutes and two rebounds along with two assists and two steals at Eastern Mennonite (2/22)... had season-high three assists and three points at Guilford (2/11).

High School: Two-sport athlete at Western Albemarle... earned All-Jefferson District honors as a senior earned the Coaches Award in basketball... three-time Second-Team All-Jefferson District second baseman in baseball... led WAHS to a program-best 20-2 record as senior captain in baseball, including an 11-1 mark in district play... won Conference 29 championship and advanced to regional quarterfinals... earned "Warrior" Award last two years... selected to All-Region team in 2014... led them to a 15-5 record as a junior... earned Most Improved Award as a sophomore, leading the team to 10 wins, a four-win turnaround... had a career .344 batting average with 65 hits, 38 runs, 37 RBI and drew 22 walks.
