The Lead: C.J. Miles had 22 points as Roanoke knocked off Eastern Mennonite 75-65 on senior night in Salem.

How it Happened

• Miles was joined in double-figures by Eli Sumpter with 12 points and Joey Miller had 11 off the bench for RC. Senior John Fitchett had eight points in his final regular season home game. Josh Freund had six points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
• EMU was led by 13 points from RaShawn Latimer and 11 points from Travis Clowner. Jerome Jones grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to help the Royals to a 34-29 edge on the glass.
• Roanoke shot 45.7% for the game, making 21-of-46 shots from the field. RC knocked down eight three-pointers and were 25-of-35 from the foul-line. EMU shot 41.7% on the night, making 20-of-48 shots.
• The first-half was tightly contested with Roanoke holding the biggest lead of the half at four points as the lead changed seven times.
• RC held a slim 28-25 lead at the intermission and opened the second-half with an 10-2 run, taking a 38-27 lead following a Miles three-pointer three minutes in.
• EMU scored 10 of the next 14 points to pull within five at 42-37 with 11 minutes to play in the game. RC responded with a 9-2 spurt to push its lead back to 11 points following a pair of Miles free-throws with 9:46 to play.
• With RC leading 59-48 with 6:30 to play, EMU went on a 12-5 with a Latimer three-pointer making the score 64-60 with 3:33 to go.
• That would be as close as the Royals would get as RC used a 9-2 run, including a Miles three pointer that made it 73-61 with under a minute to go in the game.
