A member of the Roanoke College Hall of Fame, Goldsmith is the third leading scorer in the history of the men’s lacrosse program. He held the top overall spot from his graduation in 1983 until the 2003 season.

In his career with the Maroons, Goldsmith compiled 259 points on 119 goals and 139 assists. In 1982, Goldsmith was named the ODAC Player of the Year and a First Team All-American after leading the Maroons to a berth in the national semifinals.

One year later, he did himself better in the honors column, earning the Hero’s Award and the Jack Tumbull Award for National Attackman of the Year accolades after leading the squad to the national championship contest. Goldsmith remains one of the few players in team history to receive multiple First Team All-American honors.

He set a single-game record for points in a game (13) and a single-season (81).  He was a four-year All-ODAC player and a team captain in 1983. After his senior season, Goldsmith played in the annual North/South All-Star Game.  His #4 jersey has since been retired.
