BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Roanoke College cycling team took to the course for its first collegiate event last week at the High Country Collegiate MTB Challenge hosted by Lees-McRae. Kelby Hanson finished ninth in 1:00:53.2 and Hays Edmunds finished 18th in 1:11:40.5 in the XC Men's Collegiate B Race
Race Report by Hanson: "From the start I was feeling good and lead-out the race for about half of the first lap on one of the gnarliest XC courses I've ever ridden. The crowd cheering through all the switchbacks almost made me forget just how hard this course was."
Race Report by Edmunds: "Cross country must mean something different here than it did back in Boulder, CO with how technical the course was today. I still had a great time getting out racing and getting more experience with mountain biking. Shout out to the Lees-McRae students who were doing Haribo gummy bear hand-ups in the climbs and of course to Kelby who was crushing it from the start line today."
