The Roanoke cycling team raced this weekend at a dual conference event held at UNC in North Carolina. At UNC, the team competed in a 39-mile road race on Saturday and a 45-minute Criterium race on Sunday. 

UNC Race:

The highlight of the weekend was a 5th-place finish in the criterium by Hays Edmunds.  

Edmunds: "I improved my grit and ability to put out short surges of power. Both the criterium and road race was super punchy. I need to work on bringing my power and fitness up. I know I have the skills to race fairly well so I just want to shore up the power to back it up! 

Coach Olds: "I'm really proud of how the team is racing. Rafe had a plan to attack the field off the start line and he executed that plan perfectly. He ended up in front of the group for three laps by himself and the chasing field behind him was shattered. Everything is coming together nicely, and with every race experience, we are getting stronger and more united as a team.
