    The Roanoke College Athletic Department announced their 2020-21 award winners on Monday afternoon. The announcement of the four awards comes after an unprecedented season that would see all sports competing, in condensed schedules, over a three and a half month period due to the pandemic.

    After defeating Shenandoah in the opening round of the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament, Roanoke traveled to Lexington to face the top seeded Generals. Washington and Lee came into the tournament as the 18th ranked team in the nation and 5th in the region. W&L swept the doubles matches and with wins at #1 and #6 singles, closed out the Maroons 5-0.

    After falling to Shenandoah last week in their regular season finale, 4-5, Roanoke would travel to face the Hornets in the first round of the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Tennis Tournament. The Maroons would turn the tables on Shenandoah to advance in the tournament with the 5-4 victory.

    The Roanoke College tennis teams played one last regular season Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match when they hosted Shenandoah on Sunday afternoon. The Maroons would take a 2-1 lead into the six singles matches. However, Shenandoah tie it up at 4-4 with on match remaining. The Hornets would win a three set match to pick up the 5-4 ODAC win.
  • Women Fall To Wasp Rally

    The Roanoke at Emory & Henry match was moved from Saturday to Friday afternoon due to the forecasted weather. The Maroons won a pair of doubles matches to take a 2-1 advantage. However, the Wasps would rally in singles play to complete the comeback and pick up the 5-4 win.

    The Roanoke College men's and women's tennis teams played host to Averett on Tuesday afternoon. The Cougars would get the better of Roanoke this afternoon. The men would fall 7-2 while the woman suffered a 6-3 loss.

    The Roanoke College men's and women's tennis teams would host Johnson University at the Elizabeth Campus Tennis Complex on Saturday morning. Both the men and women would complete 9-0 sweeps of the matches against the Royals.

    The women's tennis team played host to Randolph-Macon on Sunday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets raced out to a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Roanoke looked to come back in the individual matches but the rally fell just short as the two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rivals would split the six singles matches, giving Macon a 5-4 win.

    The Roanoke College women's tennis team played host to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday morning. The match was moved up three hours to try to beat the rain. Roanoke would win one of the three doubles matches but couldn't carry that momentum into singles play, with the Marlins taking all six matchups for the 8-1 win.

    The men's and women's tennis teams went to Bridgewater for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup on Tuesday afternoon. The men rallied, taking four of the six singles matches on their way to a 5-4 win. The women held a 2-1 lead after doubles, however the Eagles would win five of the six singles matches for the 6-3 win.

    The Roanoke College men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Lynchburg to face Randolph College on Saturday. The men took two of the three doubles points and four singles matches for the 6-3 win. The women won a pair of doubles matches and all five singles matches for the 7-0 sweep of the WildCats.

    The Roanoke College women’s tennis team hosted Sweet Briar at the Elizabeth Campus Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Vixens took all three doubles matches to take the early 3-0 advantage. The Maroons would win a pair of the six singles matches but fell to 1-1 after the 7-2 loss to Sweet Briar.

    The Roanoke College women’s tennis team kicked off their 2021 season with a trip to Guilford to face the Quakers in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. The Maroons would take two of three in doubles play and built a lead that the home team could not come back from in posting a 6-3 victory.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their plan for the return to competition for the Spring of 2021. Tuesday afternoon the league office announced that conference play is slotted to begin January 23rd.

    Roanoke College Director of Athletics Scott Allison is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Wilkes to lead the Maroon’s tennis program. Wilkes will take over the helm of the men’s and women’s tennis teams starting December 1st.
