    The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2022 Academic All State teams on Thursday morning. Six Maroons were honored for not only their athletic accomplishments, but for their academic success. Four of the six carry a 4.00 Grade Point Average (GPA), while the others sport a 3.974 and 3.966 gpa.
  • Roanoke College launching competitive cycling program for men and women

    Roanoke College announced today that it will launch a competitive cycling program for women and men. The announcement was made by Tom Rambo, dean of students, at the announcement of the courses for the 2022 USA Cycling Amateur Road National Championships, which will be held in Virginia’s Blue Ridge from June 29 to July 2.

This year’s class consisted of three men’s lacrosse players that earned numerous accolades and honors, an NCAA track Champion, a track and basketball cross over star, and the 1972 National Championship men’s basketball team.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their weekly honors on Monday afternoon. Three Maroons were named Players of the Week in two different sports. Kasey Draper was named ODAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week and a pair of swimmers swept the ODAC honors. Ethan Brewer was named conference Men's Swimmer of the Week while Susanna Price won the award on the women's side for the second time this season.

A pair of Maroons, one women's and one men's, were honored for their performance in the classroom as well as on the field. Seniors Bryan Haden and Zach Behe were named Academic All District and now move to the nationwide voting for the Academic All American teams.

Men’s volleyball will bring Roanoke’s overall number of NCAA sponsored sports to 23 and is scheduled to begin play in the fall of 2022.
