Set a school record his first year at Roanoke, scoring more points at that time than any other freshman basketball player. Earned a selection as second-team All-State in 1964 and was honorable mention in 1961 and '63. Was selected honorable mention All-Mason-Dixon Conference in 1963 and '64. Was named All-Litte Eight Conference Second-Team in 1961.
Competed for the Maroons in golf for four years, serving as captain. Was a member of the Monogram Club and Blue Key National Honor Fraternity.
After graduation, Dotson served the College in various capacities. He served as a member of the original Board of Directors for the Salem Sports Club.
