A member of the Monogram Club, Fox excelled in football as a guard and quarterback in 1939, ’40, and ’46, when he returned from the armed forces during World War II.  For four years, he served as Athletic and Recreation Officer in the U.S. Air Force.

In 1947, he instituted the soccer program at Roanoke College producing a long list of winning teams and several All-American candidates.  From 1959-70, he directed the fortunes of the track team.

Besides soccer and track, his coaching extended to baseball, golf and JV basketball.
