One of the college’s finest sprinters, Gearhart excelled in every race from the 60-yard sprint to the quarter mile.
He captained one of the most successful track teams the school has ever known, leading his team to run-away victories in the Little Eight and Mason Dixon Conferences.
Gearhart held records for the 60, 100, and 220, setting a new conference standard in the 60-yard dash. He was the Virginia Small College State Champion in the 220 yard dash.
As a senior, Gearhart and his teammates set a new conference record in the sprint medley. He was a member of the Monogram Club for four years.
