Roanoke’s premier multi-sport athlete from 1976-79, Lawler was named the College’s Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year in 1978-79.  She also lettered in field hockey from 1976-'78 in which she was named captain in her final year.

She founded the women’s lacrosse team at Roanoke in 1977 and was team captain in 1978 and '79.  She left as the all-time leading scorer in women’s lacrosse at the time of her graduation.  She was selected to the Virginia State lacrosse team in 1978-79.

Also competed on the College’s varsity swim team 1977-78.

After Roanoke, Lawler was selected to the All-Maryland team 1980, '81 and the All-South Regional team in 1980 with her Baltimore Club lacrosse team.  She led the Baltimore Club field hockey to the national tournament in 1980.

Placed first in three different triathlons in Alaska 1986, '88, and '90 and holds several U.S. Masters and Alaska age group records in swimming.
