    Roanoke College head women's basketball coach Carla Flaherty is excited to announce the addition of new assistant coach Aaron Fernandez to her staff. Fernandez started his new position on July 1st and will be the primary assistant going into the 2021-22 season.

    The Roanoke College Athletic Department announced their 2020-21 award winners on Monday afternoon. The announcement of the four awards comes after an unprecedented season that would see all sports competing, in condensed schedules, over a three and a half month period due to the pandemic.

  • Maroons Fall In ODAC Championship Game

    The Roanoke College women's basketball team played in the finals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Basketball Tournament for the first time since 2011 when they traveled to Lynchburg for the championship game. Trailing by two at the break, Roanoke tied the game going into the fourth quarter. The Maroons held a one-point lead late, but the Hornets would close the game on a 10-3 run to claim the title.
  • Roanoke Advances To ODAC Championship

    The Roanoke College women's basketball team hosted Ferrum on Tuesday night with the winner going on to the championship game of the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Basketball Tournament. Roanoke had just defeated the Panthers on February 22nd and thanks to a 32-6 second quarter, the Maroons punched their ticket to their first ODAC finals appearance since 2011.

    The Roanoke women’s basketball team kicked off the 2021 post-season by hosting Shenandoah in the quarterfinal round of the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. The Hornets would race out to a 12-2 lead before the Maroons stormed back to pull away for their third win over Shenandoah this season.
  • Maroons Fall On Last Second Score

    The Roanoke College women’s basketball team welcomed Christopher Newport to the Cregger Center for one final tune-up before starting play in the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. The matchup with the Captains would be played as an exhibition game. The score would remain close throughout with the Maroons holding a one-point lead in the final seconds. A three-point play in the final two seconds would be the difference as Christopher Newport claimed the 75-73 victory
  • Roanoke Rally Turned Away by Hornets

    Roanoke College played host to Lynchburg on Wednesday night. The game with the Hornets was originally scheduled for February 18th but had to be moved due to weather. In the battle of one loss Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) teams, the Hornets raced out to a big early lead. Twice the Maroons would mount rallies and with less than a minute to go, tied the game at 55-55, forcing overtime. Roanoke took their first lead of the night, 57-56, but would not score again as the Hornets escaped Salem with a 63-57 win.
  • Roanoke Remains Perfect in February

    The Roanoke College women’s basketball team took a perfect, 5-0, record for the month into a rescheduled road game at Ferrum on Monday night. The game, originally scheduled for February 9, was the first away from the Cregger Center in more than two weeks. Roanoke used a 16-2 run during the first quarter to seize control as the Maroons cruised to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win.
  • Women Finish Perfect home Stand

    Prior to the tip with Shenandoah, Roanoke College took a moment to honor her four seniors. Megan Wheeler, Kristina Harrel, Kayla Kinsler, and Jayla Faison were recognized for their dedication and hard work for the program. After the opening tip, Shenandoah would enjoy the advantage for of the first half. A 7-3 run to close the half would allow the Maroons to take a one-point lead into the break. Roanoke would never trail again as they built as much as a 15 point advantage during the second half and picked up their fourth Old Dominion Athletic conference (ODAC) win of the season.
  • Roanoke Shuts Down Knights

    The Maroons welcomed Southern Virginia to the Cregger Center for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday night. It marked the second game of a current, four game home stand for a Roanoke College team looking to add to their current three-game win streak. The first half would see nine lead changes and a pair of ties, but a 12-2 run to open the second half would give RC the lead for good as the Maroons cruised to the 23 point win.
  • A Quartet of Maroons Earn ODAC Athlete of the Week

    After seeing a trio of Roanoke College athletes earn Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors one week ago, the Maroons would see four athletes honored this week by the league. The ODAC release their ODAC Player of the Week awards for the week of February 8-14 and Roanoke swept the men's and women's awards for both basketball and swimming.
  • Homestand Starts With Win

    The Roanoke College women’s basketball team played host to Washington and Lee on Friday night to kick off a four game home stand. The Maroons have started February by winning two consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) games and looked to make it three straight against a Generals team that was playing just their second game of the 2020-21 season. The Maroons controlled the game for most of the night building as much as a 15 point advantage. A late Generals rally cut it to four, but Roanoke hit their free throws to seal the ODAC win, 61-52.

    After picking up their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win of the season on Thursday night, the Roanoke women’s basketball team was back on the road with a trip to Virginia Beach to face the Marlins. The Maroons jumped on their hosts early and cruised to the 92-30 ODAC victory.
  • RC Women Win ODAC Home Opener

    For the first time this season, the Roanoke College women’s basketball team defended her home floor in the Cregger Center. After defeating Emory & Henry back on January 24 in a non-conference matchup, the Maroons looked to pick up an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win on Thursday night. A 24 point second quarter allowed the Maroons to open up a double digit lead that they would hold throughout the evening in picking up the 74-62 home win.
  • Maroons Fall To Defending Champs

    After starting the season with back-to-back road wins, the Maroons traveled to Ashland to face the reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) champions from Randolph-Macon. Roanoke found themselves down by nine early in the fourth quarter, a rally would see the deficit cut to two, but RMC would grab a pair of offensive rebounds and go 4-4 from the line to hang on for the 82-76 ODAC win.

    Roanoke College traveled to Emory & Henry for their final of two non-conference matchups to start the season. The Maroons used a 15-8 run to close the third quarter to seize control and go on to a 10 point win.
  • Maroons Win Season Opener

    The Roanoke College women's basketball team traveled to Winchester to face Shenandoah to open the 2020-21 season. The game with the Hornets was the first of two matchups this season and due to the truncated season, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it was considered a non-conference game.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released the 2020-21 Women's Basketball preseason poll on Thursday afternoon. Roanoke was voted first by the league's 12 coaches.
  • ODAC Releases 2020-21 Winter Sport Schedules

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released the 2020-21 Winter Sport schedules on Friday afternoon. Men's and women's basketball are slated to begin on January 23rd while the individual sports of swimming and track & field are also addressed. The schedules, as approved by the ODAC President's Council, are subject to change due to various protocols, institutional decisions, and other factors as they pertain to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • ODAC Releases Plan For Spring Competition

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their plan for the return to competition for the Spring of 2021. Tuesday afternoon the league office announced that conference play is slotted to begin January 23rd.
