Willis began a stellar soccer career by being named to the All-American Southern selection team as a freshman, as he set a record for saves in league play.

Against Baltimore University, he made 37 saves, allowing the Maroons to beat their long time rival for the first time in 15 years.  In his junior year, he succeeded in stopping three penalty kicks, normally automatic goals.

Co-captain of the team his junior year, he was named to the All-State and All-Mason Dixon teams.

Willis was killed tragically in an automobile accident.
