A pioneer in the sport of field hockey at Roanoke College, Carrick was the first All-American in team history, earning the honors following her 1992 senior season. That season, the midfielder was named to the College Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Third Team All-American squad. That same season, Carrick earned First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference honors and was also the first Maroon to be selected to play in the North/South senior All-Star game. 

Before being named the Roanoke College Female Athlete of the Year in 1993, Carrick was a two-time team Most Valuable Player and as a sophomore was the first recipient of the college’s ‘Fran Ramser’ award, which is given annually to the field hockey player that has exemplified the competitive spirit of a champion.
