An outstanding competitor in both football and baseball in addition to becoming President of the Monogram Club in 1919.

He captained the football team in 1918 and '19.  He also was team captain of the baseball teams in 1919 and '20 and carried a four year batting average of over .300.  Won the coveted Panathlon Medal in 1919.

For 36 years, he served as Chief of Medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Richmond, and as a professor of medicine at the Medical College of Virginia.  He is a past president of the Richmond Academy of Medicine.
