A forward on the "Five Smart Boys," they went 40-5 in a two-year span which gained the program national attention as they played in the National Invitational Tournament, which was bigger than the NCAA Tournament at that time.

He broke a Madison Square Garden scoring record at the National Invitational Tournament in 1939. Named to the All-State team in 1939.  In addition to his basketball duties, he was manager of varsity football squad from 1937-39 and a varsity tennis player during his sophomore, junior, and senior years.

On campus he was Vice president of the Monogram Club and President of Student Athletic Council.
