FLANARY RESIGNS AS ROANOKE'S GOLF COACH

SALEM, VA--Roanoke College head golf coach Mike Flanary announced his resignation on Tuesday morning following a meeting with Director of Athletics Scott Allison. Allison and the Roanoke College athletic department will begin an immediate search for a replacement for Flanary.

Flanary recently completed his eighth season as the head coach of the Maroon golf program. The Bluefield State College graduate took over the program prior to the 1997-98 season. This past spring, Flanary led the Maroons to an eighth place finish at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships. In just his first season as the team's head coach, Flanary led the Maroons to their best finish at the conference championships in over 10 seasons, taking second at the 1998 league meet. He also led the team to three fourth place finishes in his time as coach.

A part-time coach with the Maroons athletic department, Flanary coached three First Team All-ODAC selections and just this past season helped Dusty Throckmorton earn Second Team All-Conference honors.
