The Lead: The final regular season match for Roanoke College was a trip to Williamsburg to compete in the, 13-team, 88-golfer, Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial hosted by the Apprentice School. Roanoke would finish third with #2 ranked Christopher Newport winning the event. Going into the second day in fourth, Roanoke moved up one spot and made up 10 of the 11 stroke deficit to Hampden-Sydney for the runner-up spot.

How it Happened:

Day 1:

  • Senior Justin Grenier fired an opening round 73, 1-over par, to lead the Maroons on the first day. TJ Whelan fired a 77 with Will Clary posting a 78. Freshman Brett Chodos rounded out the lineup with an 80.
  • Playing as an individual, sophomore Sean Furlong carded an opening round 74, 2-over par.

Day 2:

  • Whelan posted a 2-over par 74 with fellow sophomore Palmer Cuny shot a 3-over, 75. Clary added a 76 with Grenier rounding out the scoring with an 80.
  • Furlong would replicate his first round 74 to finish tied for 4th in the event with 148 total. Whelan would make it a pair in the top 10 when he claimed the 9th spot.

Up Next: The season wraps up at the 2023 Old Dominion athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships. The tournament will be held at the former site of the PGA's Greater Greensboro Open, Forest Oaks Country Club, just outside Greensboro. The three-day event will be played April 23-25.
