Golf Places Fifth in ODAC Championships
CAPE CHARLES, Va. --- Roanoke finished fifth in the 2011 ODAC Golf Championships at Bay Creek Resort & Club. The Maroons shot an overall score of 945 (+81) for the three-round tournament.
The Maroons was fourth after the first day, shooting 314 in the first 18 of the 72-hole tournament. They continued to improve in the second round, firing a weekend-best 311 to maintain their position in fourth-place. On the final day, the men finished nine strokes higher than Monday's scorecard, and settled for fifth in the conference championship.
Brandon Ketron (Abingdon, VA, Abingdon) was named All-ODAC First-Team after firing a three-round scorecard of 229 (+13), placing eighth individually. He was tied for second-place after shooting a 74 in the opening round. He finished play with a score of 77 and 78 in the final two days.
Adam Skaff (Charleston, WV, Charleston Catholic) was an honorable mention selection on the 2011 All-ODAC Team as he finished 15th on the leader board (234) with 18-over par. After a 79 score in the first 18 holes, he improved five strokes with a 74 on the second day in his best round of the tournament. Rob Pepi (Huntington, NY, Walt Whitman) (+20) was not far behind Skaff, placing 18th with a three-round tally of 236.
Ryan Davis (Salem, VA, Salem) and Cameron McLaughlin (Warsaw, NY, Letchworth) shot scores of 246 and 258, respectively, in their final match of the season.
