Maroons Wins Virginia State Intercollegiate Championship
WINTERGREEN, Va--- The Roanoke College golf team won the Virginia State Intercollegiate Championship this weekend. Roanoke defeated Randolph-Macon in a five man play-off, with both teams shooting a 606 on the weekend. They were followed by Washington and Lee, who finished just one stroke behind at 607.
Brandon Ketron (Abingdon, VA, Abingdon) led the Maroons, tying for fourth place, shooting a 70 and a 79 (+5) for a two day total of 149. Patrick King finished with a 151, placing in a tie for seventh, and Rob Pepi (Huntington, NY, Walt Whitman) ended the tournament only a stroke behind him with a 152, good enough to earn a tie for 10th place.
Adam Skaff (Charleston, WV, Charleston Catholic) showed consistency, shooting a 77 on both days of the championship, posting a score of 154. Ryan Davis rounded out the group with a two day total of 161.
Washington and Lee's Tim Gaurich won the event, shooting two 70's to finish four under par with a score of 140.
The Maroons return to action October 24-26 as they travel to Greensboro, NC for the Tom and Bettie O'Briant Memorial.
