The JWU Spring Invitational was shortened due to weather

The Basics:

Event: Johnson & Wales Spring Invitational

Place: 7th

Results: Roanoke Day One: 336
Location: Matthews, N.C. (Emerald Lake Golf Club)

The Lead: The Roanoke College golf team traveled to Matthews, North Carolina for the Johnson & Wales Spring Invitational. The two-day event was shortened to one day after rain washed out the second round on Tuesday.

How it Happened:

  • Justin Grenier led the Maroons with an eight-over par 79. With cold and rough conditions, only 14 golfers broke 80 in a field that featured 49 golfers from eight different institutions.
  • Fellow sophomore Will Clary carded an 82, just missing out on a top 20 finish.
  • Daniel Poff and Michael Donnelly rounded out the scoring for Roanoke.
  • Roanoke would finish the tournament just two strokes behind Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Lynchburg.

Up next: The next scheduled event for the Maroons is a one-day, 36-hole, event hosted by Shenandoah University. The tournament will be held on Monday, March 29 at the Winchester Country Club.
