The Basics:

The Lead: The Roanoke College golf team traveled to Winchester to compete in the 10-team Glory Days Invitational hosted by Shenandoah University. The one-day event was played at the Winchester Country Club over the 6,367 course at par 71. RC shot an opening round 325 and then went right back to work, firing a 315 during the 36 holes played in a single day.

How it Happened:

  • Freshman TJ Whelan shot an opening round 75 to pace the Maroons. Whelan followed it up with a 79 and finished t5th in the field of 56 golfers.
  • Will Clary posted an 82 in the morning before returning to post a 6-over par, 77 to climb the leader board and finish 13th.
  • Junior Daniel Poff started slow but rallied in the second 18 holes to post a 76, the fifth best score overall during the second round.
  • Freshman Jake Wilson, playing his first collegiate event shot a pair of 83's and just missed out on a top 20 finish.

Up Next: The Maroons travel to Hanover, Pa. on Sunday October 3 to compete in the Battle of the Burg, hosted by Gettysburg College.
