Maroons 4th to Start 2022-23 Campaign

The Basics:

Event: 2022 Kinder-Williams Invitational (hosted by Bridgewater)

Place: 4th and 10th 

Results: Round One: 302 and 322 | Round Two: 297 and 308
Location: Harrisonburg, Va. (Lakeview Golf Club: Mountain and Lake courses)

The Lead: After having last weekend's tournament in Winchester rained out, the Roanoke golf team traveled to Harrisonburg for the 2022 Kinder-Williams Invitational. The Maroons traveled two teams and each would finish in the top 10 of the 15 field event. Roanoke finished fourth while the 'B' team came home 10th after two days of play.

How it Happened:

Roanoke A:

  • The Maroons would find themselves two shots out of the lead after Day One (302). Senior Justin Grenier paced Roanoke with an even par 72 followed by a three-over par 75 from sophomore Palmer Cuny.
  •  Day Two would see Roanoke best there first round score by five strokes (297) however the Maroons would finish fourth in the 15-team field. Sophomore TJ Whelan shot a four-under par 68 while Cuny finished two-under, 70. Freshman Brett Chodos finished with a five-over par 77.
  • Cuny finished fifth overall with teammate Whelan coming in one stroke behind in sixth place.

Roanoke B:

  • Roanoke College would send another five-man team to compete in the field of 15. The Roanoke B team would improve 14 strokes from the first day to finish 10th.
  • Will Abdi led Day One with a three-over 75 while freshman Schuyler Harmison carded a 78.
  • Day Two would see four players shoot in the 70's led by Harmison's 74 and followed by Jackson Gorman (77), Calvin Anthony (78) and Abdi (79).

Up Next: The Maroons will once again send two teams out in their next event. Roanoke makes the trip to western Maryland to play in the Stevenson Fall Invitational next Monday.
